Questioned Document Forensics
The first service made available — and the one most frequently requested — is the forensic examination of questioned documents.
Handwriting originates in the brain, where a mental picture of letters and words is formed. That is why simulating another person’s handwriting is so difficult: it requires grasping the essence of the writer’s motor control program and executing a program that yields a very similar result.
Forensic examination can establish the origin of a signature on a document — a power of attorney, a testament, and other instruments.
Handling Documents Before Examination
There are rules for handling a document before it undergoes forensic examination. A dedicated instructor is available to provide a short guideline on how to deal with potential evidentiary documents before they are formally recognised as evidence by the experts.
